I can't believe that Halloween is already here. Halloween is by far one of Aaron and my favorite holidays. While we were home for the Birthday Trip we finally decided that Jackson was going to be a lion. Sadly, while we were home we also learned that Aaron wouldn't be with us this Halloween due to a 6-week long training in Georgia=( Even though I wasn't feeling 100% and Aaron wasn't here we decided that we Had to take Jackson trick or treating regardless. He doesn't quite understand (or so we thought) and doesn't need a lot of candy so hitting a couple houses would serve our purposes well.
As soon as we had him in his outfit he was ready to go. With trick or treating on different nights out here we went on post to visit some friends and hit some houses in their neighborhoods. You could tell that trick or treating wasn't in our neighborhood that night because there was a line of cars heading out onto the main streets either heading to Clarksville or Fort Campbell.
We made Jackson work for his candy, so he had to walk up to every door step. I know...such a mean mom! After the first couple houses he realized that he was getting things. The light bulb really came on for him after the first sucker landed in his bucket. He was sold on the idea of the entire thing. He even managed to get an "Ah" out as soon as he would get up there.
About halfway through our "circle" Jackson decided it was time to go through his stash! He started picking and sorting and throwing candy all over the place. I guess you could say that he was looking through the "good stuff".
We decided to take a picture of the three of us before Jackson had his inevitable melt down. As you can tell he was already eating some candy (licorice) to keep him happy until we could make it to the car.
Eventually the meltdown happened as soon as we made it to the car. He started sorting his candy again and pulled out a Big Purple sucker. I took it away trying to get everything into the car and this is the face we were faced with. Complete Screaming Tantrum!! I ended up caving and giving him a DumDum to make the trip home a little more...quiet.
All in all it was a pretty fun Halloween. It was wonderful being able to celebrate with my mom here, but a little sad not having Aaron around. *Sigh* I guess we will just have to make up for it next year=)
